Boutis is a Provence needlework specialty
that begun in the late 1700's. Real boutis is made by hand filling
up quilted cover. To easily recognize a real
boutis, look at the item by transparency and the design will appear
in the darker parts. In 90% of the cases, items for sale are not real
boutis, just quilted items. This technique requires so many hours
of needlework that a true boutis is necessarily expensive.
